No one truly knows when the secong coming will be. There are no record of the gospels being written before 85ad. Everyone back then thought that Jesus was coming during their life time, so they thought, I assume, that there was no true reason to write down anyhting because there wasn't going to be anyone to read it. Then there days came to anend and their predisesors and descendants started to write down what they had been told at 85 years after the Day of our Lord.

Revelations says alot of things, but everything in relevations is written in medophors. So honestly who really knows what the exact meaning of it really is.

Also look at who revelations was written towards the people of that time.  It was punishments for those who (Romans) were perscuting the righteous. We are not in their same situation. This is a book about how the Romans (evil ones) will suffer. During this time frame these people were horrified because how could God really be ruling with all the evil things happening to God's children. In Relevations and other books we read of Jesus coming again to save the world but does it not say he will cme down from the heavens as he went up? So this would mean spiritually, so when all the believers go are they not in spirt also? So could it be that maybe when we die is when we will know wether or not Jesus has truly come to take us? Could our day of death be our day of redemption? I could believe that the true second coming is after our own death. That is when we will see the rath of God when he gives us that opportunity to believe in him before desending to hell.

Two Athiests or two homosexuals becoming committed to each other is not scared. One is just as bad as the other.

Frank K Wrote: One of the principle arguments used by proponents of Proposition 8 in California was that marriage is a "sacred institution" between a man and a woman. So if we were to accept this "sacred" argument, how would the various churches that heavily campaigned for the ban on gay marriage on sacred grounds view marriages between two athiests (man and woman)?  How could a marriage between two non-believers be considered "sacred" under the church doctrine?  If those same churches got together and sponsored a measure similar to proposition 8 but targeted athiests instead of gays, might it pass? Athiests are a minority in California.

Would a marriage of an athiest man and athiest woman be more "sacred" than a marriage of two Christian lesbian women?

As the American Athiests pointed out, the California voters and the California Supreme Court have set a dangerous precident in allowing the majority (mostly Christians) to remove the civil rights of a minority based solely on Biblical Christian beliefs. What's next? Where does it all stop?

Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as with awoman. both of them have committed an abominations; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.

This applies to women also. So there is no such thing, per God's word, of a marriage between lesbian women. They are homosexual and that is a sin. So just the by saying Christian lesbians is wrong all the way around. Two athiest marry but not under God but under their own beliefs and/ or feelings. Homosexuals are also not committed to each other under a "Christian biblical marriage" Now whether this should be banned is not for me to say. If an athiest couple committ to each other then I would hope that committ for love and respect that love of each other for always, the same goes for a homosexual relationship, just like a christian marriage they just hold their love of God into their marriage. These two groups should not be married by a religious person ex. preacher. father, priest, etc. They should be allowed to be lawfully married under different rules maybe at the court house or something.

First of all Kyle is close to being right, if a man and a woman commit adultery then there punishment is death by stoning.  I feel as though the first entry on Christy's part only looked at the bad and only read what she felt was necessary. If you read further as Kyle did one will see that there was more to the story. The word seized should not be taken literally either, in Deuteronomy 28:28 - 29.  This is not literally rape. This would be like if two teenagers who are caught in the act  and the boy pays the consequences for the act. Although back then it was with money and they would be considered married at that point. Now a days this kind of thing happens all the time and the boy and girl both have to pay for the act some way or another.

The bible is not a book that should be taken literally. Also, everyone has a different interpretation of every versus in the bible. For those who want to see evil will see evil and those who chose to see and understand the good, will.

In the OT the law were set by God on Mount Siani. Then in the NT Jesus revamped them.  Alot of people have the opinion that their are contradictions in the bible. Alot of these come from the differences between the OT and the NT but what one must understand is that there are two different people that are being talked about here. The OT is all about God and what he says and in the NT it is more about what Jesus says. Murder is murder even if you say "You fool" to someone. Coventing is that even to lusting with your mind to someone else's wife. Bad deeds are always seen by God.

Now I do feel though, at least when I read the stories of the OT, people back then where very simple minded and the times were different. Even that by the time of Jesus it was all different.

I am not real sure of all the things in the bible. So I don't defend it nor do I disgrace it. I do like the fact that it gives our society a piece of morality and guidelines of such to live by. If for nothing more. that gives me hope in my own way.

Since everyone wants to look at the US for what we don't do right then we need to look at other nations who do absolutely nothing. The world as a whole has greed, murder, and wastefulness even in the 3rd world nations. There are people of this world that do absolutely live by the word of the lord  and there are others that say they do and others who don't and others that just don't believe. The bible is just what it is, a book written by men and put together by a group of men from second hand stories. This book should never be read with a literal eye. People need to be more open-minded and free for new versions without criticism

Our community has always had flaws but the faith community is that of the world not just the United States.  Yes everyone needs to look and read the bible for themselves and not for what someone else has read to them. This is where the problems begin when the people of the world only believe in the beliefs of another and never believe in their own beliefs.

You are right we might not be ancient Israel but even a vast magority of the Romans or Gentiles eventually turned to God. Look at Cornelius. He was a Gentile who was  a devote, God fearing, praying Roman officer. God came to him in a vision and when confirmed by Peter the Apostle was baptized then became Christian. All the people of the world need to get it together and open their eyes, yes!
