Ayurveda, a holistic treatment approach with its origin in India is considered to be the absolute way of life. Seeking answer for the question of how Ayurveda emanated, one finds that the real resource are the Vedas, the ancient texts of science of the Vedic period. The literature elaborates upon the manifold medical concoctions and surgical procedures. Nature is the greatest inspiration for the formulation of the Ayurveda medicine syatem. The treatments and medicines are based on plants, animal products, minerals, oils and spirits acquired from Mother Nature in their pure and natural form. The methods and treatments, the contemporary medical science speaks of is found to have been mentioned earlier in the Atharvaveda.

'Balance' is synonymous to 'health' in Ayurveda. Consistent balance of the five universal elements- fire, water, air, earth and ether as well as of the three elemental energies, humors or Doshas: vata (air & space – "wind"), pitta (fire & water – "bile") and kapha (water & earth – "phlegm") help the body to function to its fullest. The regular use of quality medicines, healthy diet and exercise help maintain this equilibrium and is the key to good health and perfect lifestyle.

Recent research and breakthroughs have however helped the 5,000 year old perfected health care system develop a better reach and positive acclaim. The core reason for the wide acceptance of this "spiritual health science" is due to its capability of improving the immunity system and protecting the human body against ailments and diseases.
