This can be opinion or fact based. I was wondering, what laws in the U.S. have been directly influenced by religion?

The Framers of our Constitution did not hide their belief system and included it just about every document prepared for governmental purposes.

The way we mediate out of court is based on the way Moses did it- see Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Contract law today is as binding as vows and oaths were in Biblical days, to some degree.

Our banking and mortgage laws are largely based on ideas coming from Genesis and the four gospels. Paying unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar- The paying of taxes have still not phased out to this day.

Our diets are largely dictated by what Moses passed down. Many environmentalists today would be an uproar if we attempted to eat some of the foods listed in Leviticus 11 as the abominable foods. Today, after careful study, we find that many of these foods wouldn't be best for us.

If you want to take a step further- one could even say our building codes are largely based on the plans for repairing & rebuilding the temple in II Kings and the Chronicles...

Even if one didn't believe in God, there is some good and practical wisdom to be found in the Bible that benefits us all.

The Articles of Confederation (the Founders Doctrine) alluded somewhat to religion in reference to the date, however the so-called framers of the Constitution did not mention anything about religion in the original Constitution and they only mention is what is considered the separation of Church and State clause in the Amendments to the Constitution.

Libertaians/Tea party, Republicans, Conservatives often mention the Founding Fathers Christian Family Values however the Foudning Fathers in their pursuit of happiness were known to rape slave women, enslave and even sell their own children borne by the women they raped.

That's not saying anything good about Christian Family Values eh?
