What percentage of people take The Bible literally?

Christians seem to interpret The Bible in very different ways. Some take Genesis, for example as metaphorical. They believe that the earth was created by God, but that the scale of 6 days is probably not litreral and that the word "day" in English is not a direct translation from the word originally used, meaning that six days could be another time scale, most likely closer to scientific study today. Others take 6 days very literally.  I have run ino these two very different viewpoints in the same church before.

So, my question is what percentage of people take The Bible literally?

to answer your question...no one knows but God. those who take the bible 'metaphorically' cannot be counted as christians in my opinion for they do not believe God and do not follow Jesus who did.

the word 'day' is translated correctly as a 24 hour period in gen. 1, because of the other words in the passage 'evening and morning were the...' just because the word 'yom' has several meanings and those meanings are used in different passages doesn't mean that those alternatives apply to gen. 1.

those who opt for the alternatives just cannot accept God's ability an dpower nor have the faith to believe His words. thus they call God a liar and sinned because according to them, He said something  He did not do. If He did not create the world in 6 24 hour days then there is no God and all hope is lost. (those same people will gladly accept the Biblical teaching on salvation because it benefits them but will reject Genesis because it will not).
