Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet, claimed to be given a book of golden plates by an angel engraved with a religious chronicle of ancient American peoples in an unknown language. He also said he had recieved a pair of diving stones in which he could see the translation, which he published in 1830 as the Book of Mormon.

So, this sounds to me just as plausible a story as any other in The Bible, Moses and The Ten Commandments come to mind. The only difference is that this happened in the 1800's. Why is there so much backlash and outright mockery and hatred from Christians toward Mormonism? Yes, there are some seemingly unbelievable claims in the Book of Mormon. But, one could argue, all day by the way, that The Bible has some whoppers as well.
If the Book of Mormon was written at the same time the books of The Bible were, how do you think people would approach the religion today??

I've discussed this already. The Bible is the only book that was 1/3 prophecy as written and vindicated by fulfilled prophecy and by archaeology.

NOT ONE EVENT OR PLACE has ever been proved in the Book of Mormon by archaeology.

Christians are RIGHT to HATE that which dooms the souls of men and women to an eternal hell.
