READING SCRIPTURE

Are you actively reading -studying the case studies of your selected HOLY BOOK
for your own edification? Or have you left it behind, trusting others for you the TRUTH
to find?

In America there are several FREEDOMS, that of LIBERTY- everyone is innocent until
proven guilty, The Freedom of FREE SPEECH-  and the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.
Lets take this last one as the example.
Say you own a gun, what good would owning a gun do you if you
a)- don't know how to service it, maintain load and use it under pressure?
b)- haven't ever fired it .

And there you sit with it in your hands turning it about and pretending to shoot it
as in a CHRISTMAS STORY.

What would practice with it afford to you? Would it not offer you SAFETY,  as in
that you are able to hit what you actually want to hit,, rather than it going
off in your face or someone not actually meant to be shot?

How about the WEAPON deadlier than any SWORD-GUN-BOMB, the BOOX of WORDS
or the WORD?

Paul wrote, what good is exercise, and what use to run a race if I am not going to train
for the really important thing, my SOUL, beyond this ken.

Hi Pash,

I read my Bible every day. I read other stuff, too.

How many of you read more than you feel is good?
I find I tend to read alot, and some of it does affect me, my out look/state of mind.
Some makes me go HUM, while others add to the stress.
After having come off the SOOTHER- the BIBLE which was for me more an
over view of a people and their history's focal point, i have recently taken to
read about issues closer to this earthly abode. that of the mess menschen
have by MEANS OF COVETOUSNESS made of the global scene.
Our garbage is everywhere, our imprints discernable from space.
It is our legacy that makes me question what is ahead for us, or shall we
be like the TRILOBITES, gone forever into the night?

I find myself as walking a tightrope since taking up the BOOX and somedays
I feel like PANDORA, would my faith have been clearer if I hadn;t lifted covers-lids
stones for the imprint of GOD, via the middle messers called mankind.

I don't think I can read too much.

I have not read the bible in a very long time. I'll open it from time to time to see if someone is misquoting or taking a specific thing out of context, but I do not see much of a reason to read it every day.

Hi Christy, and Zach,

I understand. I believe man is to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, so I read it to try to understand it correctly and to feed my inner man.

I guess we could look at it another way - it's a letter to me, because I am God's child. Maybe it's not a letter to you? Maybe you are trying to read someone else's mail and so it doesn't hold your interest?

Just a thought.

This to the older members of the group.
You say you once believed, how would you think to come back to your faith
if you make no effort to familiarize yourselves to what it contains?
Good science- good study doesn't rely on others to find the truth for oneself
ONE needs to actively use what one has, like shooting ones gun, driving ones car
making love, anything else is just a cerebrial exercise.
Recently I watched  a show called THE HOUR where Richard Dawkins was guest
and he is a self proclaimed Atheist, who had just had another book published on
Evolution and something else.
Now good science states, GOD might exist, until all possibilities are exhausted.
Bad science takes a SKEW and runs into trouble.
Consider the following statement, is this true or false

to follow am having trouble copypasting from word

A sobering thought
Of all the SPECIES that ever existed on planet EARTH 99.99% are extinct
Compare that extinction rate to what it takes to be blessed with a child
in the biota called SPERM.
And now magnify this on the UNIVERSAL scale and wonder how many
other life forms similar to us have been born-formed or have even gone
extinct in the time scale of this universe and the ODDS of there being
another like us are as ASTRONOMICAL as there is of there being NO GOD.

There is a common concensus today that we are currently in the
sixth extinction event.
The first was 450-440 Ma and 375-360 Ma which destroyed 70%
of species in a series of extinctions that lasted 25 million years
The biggest mass extinction event took place @251 Ma which wiped
out 53% of marine families, 84% marine genera, 96% marine species.
What were the causes? That is the big question, save that the
first, that of the Ediacarans was due to them having run out of their
resource to survive and the earlier one of the non Oxygen breathers
by their gassing themselves to death in a similar manner of over
exploitation of their environmental resources, CO2.and since
the extinction of the EDIACARANS, there has been no new PHYLA
born.

The EDIACARAN fauna were the first UBER fauna that inhabited
this planet until it’s primary food supply the huge bacterial
mats were exhausted, eaten-consumed until there was nothing
left to sustain them.

Are we WISER than the EDIACARANS, or are we just as one
dimensionally focused?
