The sin of knowledge

Is it a sin to be a man of knowledge?  I wouldn't think that a God that created man in his image and likeness would not want men to be sheep.  But there are conflicting passages in The Bible on this topic:

Proverbs
4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

1 Corinthians 1:19  "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

This may fall under the category of understanding the context of the given passages.  But, if thats the case, is it that we should have knowledge about some things and leave others alone?  Which brings me to the story of Adam, Eve and the tree of knowledge.  To be understanding, Adam ate from the tree of knowledge going against the rules that God set.  He gave into temptation, the unholyist of all sins.   For that, man was doomed to be untrustworthy in the eyes of God and not worthy of The Garden of Eden.  That singular act, as I understand it, was the catalyst for the world in which we live today and not a paradise such that Adam and Eve were given in the beginning.

So, it would appear that God wants his children to be left in the dark on certain subjects.  What are those subjects exactly? Why? Is it a sin to be a man of knowledge??

It is not a sin to get knowledge. There is no premium on ignorance.

What is sin is the knowledge of good and evil, for such knowledge is a declaration of independence from God, our Creator and Redeemer and Provider.

God wants my beliefs of right and wrong to come from HIM, not from SELF.

Do you understand now?

Hi Hilary,

I think the internet will be very beneficial in regard to getting the Gospel to essentially every person.

We are responsible for our choices in life. However, we rest in the assurance God is just and cannot do wrong. It's best we leave things we can't know in the hands of the God Who does know all things.

What we do know is this: All who come to God must come through Jesus Christ, and the other thing we know is if we get the Gospel to them and they believe on Christ, they will be saved.

DON"T CONFUSE WISDOM with KNOWLEDGE
KNOWLEDGE is basically INFORMATION-DATA
WHILE WISDOM IS KNOWING WHAT TO MAKE OF SAID DATA.

In this world you can be blessed with either, but how far
would either get you? Smarts can keep you a pauper
just as courage can make you a fool, rashly risking when
times not true.
Blessed are they who have a balance of those two, Thanks
Lord for those who can see and come up to be all you
designed them to be.

I've never confused them. I know the definition, but thanks anyway - I see you do, too.
