While many Americans think of our military as largely a Christian army and Muslims as the "enemy", Colin Powell in his recent interview rightly called tribute to one American Muslim soldier, Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, who died with honor serving his country in Iraq. He is buried in Arlington cemetery where many Crescents can be observed amongst the white crosses. In fact there are currently 20,000 Muslims serving with honor in the US military. We sometimes need to be reminded that we are a nation that tolerates all religions as well as agnostics and athiests. The photo of Khan's mother at the grave of her son says it all.
