In an interview with Greta Van Susteren of Fox News on November 10, 2008 Sarah Palin talked about her faith and running for President in 2012: "Faith is a very big part of my life. And putting my life in my creator's hands - this is what I always do. I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is. Even if it's cracked up a little bit, maybe I'll plow right on through that and maybe prematurely plow through it, but don't let me miss an open door. And if there is an open door in (20)12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door". -- Sarah Palin.

Is this the kind of religious thinking we should embrace as Sarah Palin contemplates a run for the Presidency in 2012?

We don't have to embrace religious thinking but it's perfectly acceptable for her or anyone else who does.

We are all made up of different things. It is no more wrong for Palin or anyone else to be influenced by their religious belief system than it is for any other politician to be influenced by the teaching of part of the scientific community, such as those who espouse the theory of global warming.

You make think Palin an idiot for her beliefs and I may think Gore an idiot for his beliefs. But each has a right to their beliefs and to be influenced by them. Now the issue becomes, which belief system more closely mirrors our own and which belief system do we think will influence that politician to be a better governor of his or her constituents?
