This is the thread to compare the different denominations. Which one is most popular? Which one is most controversial? What are the unique differences between them?

Lot of questions there. Or rather, it would take a lot to answer the questions.
The largest denomination would be the Catholic church - 1.1 billion.
The largest non-Catholic denomination (worldwide) is the Assemblies of God - 60 million. The largest in the United States is the Southern Baptist Convention - 16 million.
The differences between Catholicism and Protestantism are two many to include in one short post. I consider Catholicism to be an aberrant form of Christianity anyway (no offense meant to Catholics, whom I do love - I just disagree with their religion). So back to the Assemblies and the Baptists, the main differences are the Assemblies do not accept the eternal security of the believer and at least theoretically practice the nine gifts of the Spirit. The Baptist church accepts the eternal security of the believer and is mostly of the opinion the giftings of the Spirit basically passed away with the death of the original apostles.
If you want to go into further depth, we can, or if you have more specific questions, we can explore them also.
